There is no imperial court behind an opera production in the 21st century that spared neither expense nor effort for opera performances and even went into debt for them. We are running a fundraising campaign to ease the burden on the University's budget, so that we can fairly reward the many contributions we receive,  enable our students to work with professional musicians and that we can enchant our audiences at the performances in Klagenfurt and Venice.

PENELOPE 2025 is a project going far beyond the normal teaching activities of a university. The project is financed by the own resources of the Gustav Mahler Private University Klagenfurt; all parties involved would like to thank the university directorate and the head of the Institute for Musical Performance Art for their support of the project. PENELOPE 2025 offers students valuable (artistic) experience in the exploration of an unknown work, from the sources to the staged performance, which can only be conveyed so intensively as part of a larger project. With the participation of external experts in Baroque music, PENELOPE 2025 aims to inspire students for Baroque music, opening up new potential fields of artistic activities and encouraging them to work with music in a reflective and interpretatively independent way. In addition, the project offers further students the opportunity to become actively involved in the areas of music education, music education, project management, directing, editing, public relations, lighting and event technology and video documentation.

PENELOPE 2025 relies on the extraordinary commitment of many colleagues, musicians and students in Klagenfurt and Venice – without them, a project of these dimensions would not be possible.
