The edition and performance of the baroque opera Penelope by F. B. Conti in the context of academic studies is characterized by multiple communicative processes - between the years 1724 and 2025, the original sources and the modern practical edition, the courtly opera and a music university, science and practice, teachers and students, performers and audience, university, schools and society. These processes invite students to reflect on the potential of the text in their interpretative, scenic and pedagogical work, to actively explore the artistic scope and to prepare the opera for different target groups.
In the "Forschungforum", we will collectively present the results of the GMPU project and examine them on the basis of the following questions: What general conditions does the genre of baroque opera offer for academic and artistic preparation at a music university? What scope for interpretation is revealed by the sources and the notation? How can baroque elite courtly art and the ancient content of the opera be conveyed to a contemporary audience, especially school pupils? What experiences will the interdisciplinary team gain from the project work and the performances?
